I-40 West Reduced to One Lane in Davidson County This Weekend for Bridge Repair

NASHVILLE – – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will reduce Interstate 40 West in Davidson County to one lane this weekend in order to perform repairs to the Elm Hill Pike Bridge that crosses over I-40 at mile marker 217, which is located between the Stewarts Ferry Pike and Donelson Pike exits.  I-40 West at mile marker 217 will be reduced to one lane from Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:30 p.m. until Saturday, September 17 at 11:30 p.m.

  • Friday September 16, 11:30PM through Saturday September 17, 11:30 PM, There will be lane closures on I-40 westbound at mile marker 217 in order to paint the bridge beams. At least one lane will remain open at all times.
 
DAVIDSON COUNTY, I-65 at the Junction with SR 12 (Rosa Parks Blvd.)
  • Monday September 19 through Wednesday September 21, 8PM-5AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-65 southbound and northbound in order to remove construction signs.

DECATUR COUNTY, US 412 (SR 20) Widening Project:  Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures each day along US412 (State Route 20) from near the Henderson County line to Bear Creek Rd. as crews work to widen the road.
Wednesday September 14 through Wednesday September 21, 6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.: There will be temporary lane closures each day for excavation, with flagmen present. Watch for haul trucks entering roadway. One lane traffic with flagmen.

BRADLEY COUNTY, SR-60 (Dalton Pike) road widening from near Gilliland Road to U.S. 64 (SR-311): The contractor will be clearing, relocating utilities, and building substructures and will use a flagging operation to navigate construction equipment through the project. Estimated project completion date is June 2012. 
 
BRADLEY COUNTY, SR-60 construction of two concrete box bridges over Greasy Creek (LM 21.02) and Branch Creek (LM 24.28) including grading, drainage and paving: Work continues on both the Georgetown and Hopewell ends of the project. Traffic is using a temporary detour while culvert construction takes place. Traffic flow should have minimal interruptions. Estimated project completion date is April 2012.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TDOT Maintenance:Thursday September 8, 8PM-4AM, There will be alternating lane closures on I-24 in both directions between mile marker 46 and mile marker 50 for cleaning drains. One lane will remain open.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Repair of the I-24 (Silliman Evans) Bridge over Nashville & Eastern Railroad:Thursday September 8 through Wednesday September 14: No closures scheduled. 

MARION COUNTY, I-24 at Exit 152 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge on U.S. 72 (SR-27) including grading, drainage, and paving: The contractor continues work on the bridge. Any interstate lane closures on I-24 will be at nighttime between 6PM-6AM. Flaggers and THP will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is September 2012.

ANDERSON COUNTY, I-75 North near Mile Marker 121.5: On Thursday night, September 8, 2011, motorists should be alert for a possible temporary lane closure between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. as crews perform cable rail repairs. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.
 
BLOUNT COUNTY, US 321/SR 73 near Cates Street: Beginning Monday, September 12, 2011 through Friday, September 16, 2011, motorists should be alert for daily lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as crews reconstruct sidewalks and median in this area. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.
 
BLOUNT COUNTY, TN-73 Scenic (East Lamar Alexander Parkway) at Stables Drive in Townsend:East Lamar Alexander Parkway (TN 73-Scenic) at Stables Drive, near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in Townsend will be reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal at various times for the bridge construction project on Stables Drive. Traffic on Stables Drive is also being controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Two travel lanes will be open on Scenic 73 during periods when the contractor is not present and during times when work activities are being performed on the opposite side of the Little River that do not require additional space alongside the roadway. The temporary traffic signals that are currently in place will be set to a cautionary flash during times that both lanes are available for travel. When the lane restriction is in place, the traffic signals will be activated to control the traffic movement one direction at a time. Motorists in this area should be alert for changing conditions, expect potential delays and use extreme caution in this area.

  • Thursday September 8   through Wednesday September 14, 9PM to 5AM, There will be alternating lane closures on Old Hickory Blvd and the I-65 southbound exit ramp for paving operations.

NASHVILLE – – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will reduce Interstate 40 West in Davidson County to one lane this weekend in order to perform repairs to the Elm Hill Pike Bridge that crosses over I-40 at mile marker 217, which is located between the Stewarts Ferry Pike and Donelson Pike exits.  I-40 West at mile marker 217 will be reduced to one lane from Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 p.m. until Monday, September 12 at 5:00 a.m.
 
This weekend’s lane reduction is necessary to repair damage sustained to the bridge when it was struck by an oversized vehicle.
