Weekly Construction Report for Parts of East and Middle Tennessee for September 25 - October 1, 2014

BRADLEY COUNTY, I-75 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee Beam Bridge, including grading, drainage and paving at the Exit 20 interchange (U.S. 64 Bypass East, U.S. 74 East, SR-311, APD-40) (LM 4.86) in Cleveland:  Work continues on this project.  Traffic has been shifted to the new temporary alignment at the I-75 southbound exit ramp and onto the first phase of the new bridge over I-75.  Additionally, the contractor will be working on clearing and drainage and doing bridge work during this report period.  Any work requiring interstate lane closures is limited to Sunday through Thursday nights between 7PM - 6AM.  Signs will be posted and flaggers will assist with traffic control if needed.  THP will assist with traffic control as necessary during interstate lane closures.   Estimated project completion date is November 2015.

CARROLL COUNTY, SR-424:  Bridge Replacement on State Route 424 over an overflow and the Big Sandy River.  Wednesday September 24 through Wednesday October 1:  There will be lane closures in both directions on State Route 424, going into Yuma from Clarksburg, traffic will be reduced to one lane, with a temporary signal, for duration of the project.

CARROLL COUNTY, SR-424:  Bridge Replacement on State Route 424 over the Rutherford Fork Obion River and overflows. Wednesday September 24 through Wednesday October 1:  A signal system is being utilized and will reduce traffic to one lane with a 9.5’ lane restriction.

DECATUR COUNTY, SR-20 (US-412):  Resurfacing work will cause temporary lane closures in both directions daily, from Wilkinstown Road/Bear Creek Road to State Route 69.

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/ SR 115 between Louisville Road and Payne Avenue: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary daytime lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this area as crews install longitudinal cable barrier in this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

CARROLL COUNTY, SR-424:  Bridge Replacement on State Route 424 over an overflow and the Big Sandy River.  Wednesday September 17 through Wednesday September 24:  A signal system is being utilized and will reduce traffic to one lane with a 10’ lane restriction and there is a 40’ length restriction for vehicles during construction.

New Bridge Over Otter Creek to be Installed in One Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close a short section of SR 254 (Old Hickory Boulevard) in west Nashville this weekend to install a new bridge over Otter Creek. The closure will extend from Chickering Road to Hilllsboro Road (US 431 / SR 106). The work is scheduled as follows:

  • Friday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, September 15 at 6:00 a.m.
