New Bridge Over Otter Creek to be Installed in One Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close a short section of SR 254 (Old Hickory Boulevard) in west Nashville this weekend to install a new bridge over Otter Creek. The closure will extend from Chickering Road to Hilllsboro Road (US 431 / SR 106). The work is scheduled as follows:

  • Friday, September 12 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, September 15 at 6:00 a.m.

BRADLEY COUNTY, I-75 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee Beam Bridge, including grading, drainage and paving at the Exit 20 interchange (U.S. 64 Bypass East, U.S. 74 East, SR-311, APD-40) (LM 4.86) in Cleveland:  Work continues on this project.  Traffic has been shifted to the new temporary alignment at the I-75 southbound exit ramp and onto the first phase of the new bridge over I-75.  The contractor will be moving traffic from the existing southbound I-75 on-ramp to a temporary on-ramp on either Tuesday, September 16, 2014 or Wednesday, September 17, 2014.  Additionally, the contractor will be working on clearing and drainage and doing bridge work

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/ SR 115 between Louisville Road and Payne Avenue: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary daytime lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through this area as crews install longitudinal cable barrier in this area.  Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

CARROLL COUNTY, SR-424:  Bridge Replacement on State Route 424 over an overflow and the Big Sandy River.  Wednesday September 10 through Wednesday September 17:  A signal system is being utilized and will reduce traffic to one lane with a 10’ lane restriction and there is a 40’ length restriction for vehicles during construction.

CARROLL COUNTY, SR-424:  Bridge Replacement on State Route 424 over the Rutherford Fork Obion River and overflows.  Wednesday September 10 through Wednesday September 17:  A signal system is being utilized and will reduce traffic to one lane with a 9.5’ lane restriction.

CROCKETT COUNTY, SR-189:  Resurfacing work will cause temporary lane closures in both directions daily, from State Route 88 to US-412 State Route 20.  Flagmen will be present.

BENTON COUNTY, I-40:
Monday September 8
through Saturday September 13, 9:00 a. m.-5:00 p. m.:  There will be temporary lane closure eastbound & westbound I-40 (MM 133.0 to MM 127.0), for milling and paving operations.  THP will assist with traffic control.  Weather Permitting.

BRADLEY COUNTY, I-75 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee Beam Bridge, including grading, drainage and paving at the Exit 20 interchange (U.S. 64 Bypass East, U.S. 74 East, SR-311, APD-40) (LM 4.86) in Cleveland:  Work continues on this project.  Traffic has been shifted to the new temporary alignment at the I-75 southbound exit ramp and onto the first phase of the new bridge over I-75.  During this report period, the contractor will continue nighttime demolition operations on the original bridge over I-75.  These will begin after 9:30PM and end by 6AM.  When necessary, they will detour traffic using the ramps while spans over the interstate are lifted with a crane.  They will continue this work during the allowed nighttime hours until the old superstructure has been entirely removed.  Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 through Tuesday, September 16, 2014 traffic will be held to lane restrictions on the concrete ramps over I-75 to allow the contractor to saw and seal the concrete paving.  Additionally, the contractor will be
