Bradley, Greene, Hamilton and Washington will receive federal assistance
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam joined FEMA Director Craig Fugate today to announce the federal government has approved four Tennessee counties to receive federal assistance as a result of the severe storms, flash flooding and tornadoes that struck the state beginning on April 25 and continuing to April 28, 2011.
Initial counties to include Bradley, Greene, Hamilton and Washington
More counties to be added as damage assessments are completed
Use Protective Measures as Recovery Work Begins
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Health is reminding the public of the need to take protective measures to prevent injuries as clean-up efforts begin following this week’s tornadoes. Of concern is the risk of tetanus from deep puncture wounds or cuts.
NASHVILLE – Due to power outages experienced in storm and flood-impacted areas across the state, the Tennessee Department of Health is reminding affected residents of the importance of food safety. To ensure public health and wellness, a senior department official is urging individuals to throw away all perishable food that may have been exposed to temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit for two hours or more.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam declared a state of emergency at noon today as a precautionary move because of the severe weather and forecast of Mississippi River flooding.
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide a joint preliminary damage assessment for 11 counties impacted by severe storms in the state on April 4, 2011.
The counties include: Chester, Clay, Davidson, Decatur, Dickson, Henderson, Humphreys, Lake, Sevier, Shelby and Sumner.
