 NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam joined Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Command Sergeant Major George Holland of the Tennessee Military Department to pay tribute to seven Tennesseans killed in action, including two soldiers previously missing in action for several decades.

 NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and state Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder today announced May 19, 2012 is Armed Forces Day.  The single day celebration was created to signify the unification of the Armed Forces under one federal department; the Department of Defense.

Steering Committee Is Formed To Acquire Suitable Land

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs announced the initiative to establish a new state veterans cemetery in or near Madison County. TDVA has submitted a pre-application grant to the National Cemetery Administration for federal funding of the architectural design, engineer support and construction costs. However, funding for land acquisition must be raised through donations as well as city, county and state funding.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs is partnering with federal, state, and local agencies as well as other Veterans Service Organizations in Henry County to offer a veterans outreach event for Henry, Benton, Carroll, and Weakley County veterans and their families.  The large event will be hosted at the Henry County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder hosted the First Annual Women’s Veterans Summit today in Nashville. The inaugural event was co-sponsored by the Women Veterans of America Chapter 20.
