 NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam joined Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder and Command Sergeant Major George Holland of the Tennessee Military Department to pay tribute to seven Tennesseans killed in action, including two soldiers previously missing in action for several decades.

Second Annual Veterans' Workshop Coming to Nashville

NASHVILLE – U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-5) will partner with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs and several Veteran Service Organizations for the Second Annual Veterans’ Workshop.  The Middle Tennessee Veterans Outreach Event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and run through 1:00 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday, May 22 at the Hall of Flags Drill Hall at the Tennessee National Guard Armory at 3041 Sidco Drive in Nashville.  All active duty military personnel, veterans and their families are welcome to attend.

Steering Committee Is Formed To Acquire Suitable Land

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs announced the initiative to establish a new state veterans cemetery in or near Madison County. TDVA has submitted a pre-application grant to the National Cemetery Administration for federal funding of the architectural design, engineer support and construction costs. However, funding for land acquisition must be raised through donations as well as city, county and state funding.

TDVA to Host Veteran Outreach Event in Henry County to Serve Several Communities

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs is partnering with federal, state, and local agencies as well as other Veterans Service Organizations in Henry County to offer a veterans outreach event for Henry, Benton, Carroll, and Weakley County veterans and their families.  The large event will be hosted at the Henry County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, May 9 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
