Deterioration of piers delays bridge reopening until February 2014
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today that the rebuilding of three piers on the Henley Bridge will likely delay its reopening to traffic until February 28, 2014. The entire project will be complete by June of 2014. The Henley Bridge rehabilitation project was initially scheduled to be complete on June 30, 2013.

BENTON COUNTY I-40: All lanes are open at this time. Work will resume in the Spring of 2013. Resurfacing beginning east of SR-191 (approximately mile marker 131) and extending to west of the Tennessee River on I-40 near Birdsong Road (approximately mile marker 134) at the Tennessee River Bridge.
BENTON COUNTY SR-147: Bridge repair work over Sugar Creek at log mile 0.27 will cause a reduction of lanes in both directions from two lanes to one. There will be an 11’ width restriction throughout the duration of the project. Closures will be handled by a temporary traffic signal.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – TDOT Commissioner John Schroer will join other TDOT officials in Knoxville on Monday, February 4, 2013 to update the status of the Henley Bridge Project.
Monday’s event will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET and will last approximately 30 minutes.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – On Tuesday, January 22, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) awarded a rockslide repair contract, following a rockslide that occurred last week on Alcoa Highway (US 129).
NASHVILLE— The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) announced today that state aeronautics grants totaling $446,436 have been approved for eight Tennessee airports.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Due to the expected inclement weather in East Tennessee, the January 17th public meeting regarding the State Route 81 Roundabout project has been canceled. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the Jonesborough Visitor’s Center at 5 p.m. tonight.
