Trooper Larkins & Trooper Holcomb Memorial Highway Dedication Ceremony

Nashville, Tennessee — Tennessee Department of Safety Commissioner David Mitchell, Colonel Mike Walker, Senator Doug Jackson (D-Dickson) and Representative David Shepard (D-Dickson) will be dedicating part of Interstate 40 in Dickson and Williamson Counties in honor of late Troopers Todd M. Larkins and Samuel F. Holcomb. The dedication ceremony will be held Monday, September 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Renaissance Center in Dickson, TN.

Nashville, Tennessee — The Department of Safety announced today that 11 people lost their lives as a result of 11 fatal crashes on Tennessee roadways during the August 31 – September 3, 2007 Labor Day holiday weekend.  The total compares to 18 deaths in 15 fatal crashes over the 2006 Labor Day weekend.  Both were 78-hour holiday periods.

New Roane County Driver License Station Open

Nashville, Tennessee— The Department of Safety (TDOS) has opened a new Driver License Station at 1070 N. Gateway Avenue in Rockwood. The state-of-the-art facility, which began serving customers on Tuesday, August 21, is located just across the parking lot from the old station and is also home to the Tennessee Highway Patrol in that area.

Nashville, Tennessee — Department of Safety Commissioner David Mitchell has placed Trooper Kyle Cantwell on administrative leave with pay pending an investigation by Virginia State Police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, THP’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Department of Safety’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

Highway Dedicated To Fallen Trooper

Nashville, Tennessee– Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) Commissioner David Mitchell and Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Colonel Mike Walker, along with other THP officers, joined Representative Tom DuBois Saturday to dedicate a section of State Route 50 in honor of the late Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks. The ceremony was held today, August 18, 2007, in the parking lot of Galaxy Lanes, located at 730 Mooresville Pike, Columbia, Tennessee at 9 a.m. Trooper Jenks’ family was on hand to receive his award for being named Trooper of the Year for the Memphis district.

Media Advisory-The Tennessee Highway Patrol Does Not Solicit Funds

Nashville, Tennessee - The Tennessee Highway Patrol wants to remind Tennesseans that it does not ask for charitable donations and is warning residents about reports of recent phone solicitations. This month, several residents in East Tennessee have reported receiving phone calls from a person allegedly representing himself as a State Trooper. In at least one report, the caller claimed to be raising money to buy bullet resistant vests for members of the Highway Patrol.
