NASHVILLE ---The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security today announced a reminder that the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be out in force during the Christmas Holiday period to ensure travelers reach their destination safely. State Troopers will focus their attention on impaired driving and seat belt usage during the holiday, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, December 21 and ending at midnight on Tuesday, December 25.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam this evening hosted the 10^th annual “Tennessee Season to Remember” event to honor victims of homicide. Gov. and Mrs. Haslam joined families from across Tennessee who placed ornaments on memorial wreaths in honor of their loved ones.

NASHVILLE ---The Tennessee Highway Patrol today announced that there was one alcohol-related fatality during the 16-county “No Refusal” DUI enforcement effort over the Thanksgiving Holiday period. Additionally, five suspects refused to take a blood alcohol level test and warrants were then obtained for a blood sample under the “No Refusal” law.

December is Identity Theft Prevention and Awareness Month and, according to the Federal Trade Commission, it is also the time of year when most identity crime occurs.

The “No Refusal” enforcement will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 21 and end at midnight, Sunday, November 25.

NASHVILLE--- Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott today announced that the agency’s Inspectional Services Bureau has joined the National Internal Affairs Investigators Association, Inc. (NIAIA), a nationwide organization created to develop and establish professional standards of performance and integrity for Internal Affairs investigators. This marks the first time ISB has been connected to a national investigators organization.  

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol Aviation and Special Operations Unit rescued a stranded hiker from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Friday afternoon. The State Troopers departed from Nashville in the agency’s Huey helicopter this morning to assist in the search and rescue effort.  

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in locating a driver that may have information on a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday night in Sevier County.  The crash occurred at 1134 South Old Sevierville Pike near Bell Chapel Lane in Seymour.
