NASHVILLE--- Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security officials formally recognized four recent promotions and swore in the agency’s first Assistant Commissioner for Driver Services in a special ceremony today at the Tennessee Highway Patrol Training Center in Nashville. Commissioner Bill Gibbons, Deputy Commissioner Larry Godwin and THP Commander Tracy Trott were on-hand to congratulate the recipients.    

 

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) announced today it is aggressively seeking men and women who are interested in careers in law enforcement for a new Trooper Cadet Class slated to begin January 22, 2012. Applications will only be accepted from Monday, August 15 through Friday, August 26, 2011. 

MEMPHIS, TN – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons on Monday announced the appointment of Lori Bullard as Assistant Commissioner of Driver Services. Bullard, a 25-year veteran of the Memphis Police Department, currently holds the rank of colonel and is the commander the Union Station Precinct in midtown Memphis. Bullard will start her new role as Assistant Commissioner on August 24.

NASHVILLE--- Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons and Tennessee Highway Patrol Colonel Tracy Trott on Wednesday announced the appointment of the first female Major of the Highway Patrol. This is the highest rank held by a woman in the history of the Highway Patrol.

NASHVILLE---The Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist local law enforcement efforts with a “Back to School” enforcement and education campaign of their own, focusing on traffic safety in and around the school zones. State Troopers will target traffic violators, specifically those who speed in school zones and pass stopped school buses, as well as raise awareness on school safety in Tennessee.  

 

NASHVILLE--- The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security today announced the implementation of new business hours for its 49 Driver Service Centers across the state. Effective Monday, August 15, all Driver Service Centers will operate during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The change comes as part of the department’s top-to-bottom review, which aims to provide efficient, customer-friendly service to every Tennessean.

MEMPHIS –-- Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam joined Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons to help officially open the new Tennessee Driver Service Center on Shelby Drive with a ceremony Thursday afternoon in Memphis. State and local elected officials, Department of Safety and Homeland Security staff, and members of the community also joined in opening the new, larger state facility.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has once again been named a top finisher in a prestigious national law enforcement agency competition. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has named the THP the second place winner of the 2011 National Law Enforcement Challenge. Colonel Tracy Trott will officially accept the award on behalf of the department in October at the IACP Annual Conference in Chicago. 

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons announced Wednesday that the Driver Services Division is offering relief from the heat for citizens waiting to apply for, renew, or reinstate their driver licenses at the Summer Avenue Driver Testing Station.
