Department of Safety & Homeland Security Issuing Replacement Driver Licenses as Result of Printing Error

NASHVILLE--- The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced Friday that it had mailed replacement driver licenses to some new teen drivers who recently received licenses that contained incorrect information due to a printing error. The department’s state identity card vendor, MorphoTrust USA, made the printing error on some cards manufactured in December 2012 and January 2013. The cards were only issued to new drivers under age 18 who visited the state driver service centers in Dickson, Gallatin, and Springfield. The error affects 1,053 drivers.

NASHVILLE --- In preparation for this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day holiday, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) are gearing up for a statewide DUI enforcement campaign with more than 60 sobriety and driver license checkpoints planned across the state. The 2013 St. Patrick’s Day holiday period started at midnight, Friday, March 15th and ends at 11:59 p.m., Sunday March 17th.

JACKSON --- Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons joined Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Colonel Tracy Trott to announce the permanent assignment of a THP helicopter and pilot to assist with aviation support of law enforcement in west Tennessee.  This permanent aviation support will enhance public safety by increasing response time to incidents or missions in the western areas of the state.

JACKSON --- Members of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Identity Crime Unit will join the Jackson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Department of Transportation, and Cintas Document Shredding of Jackson for a community shredding event on Friday, March 8, 2013. This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Jackson Police Department , 234 Institute Street.

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) named Trooper Nathan W. Hall the 2012 Trooper of the Year at a special award ceremony held Thursday evening in Murfreesboro. Trooper Hall earned the honor after preventing a possible suicide attempt by a juvenile last December in Sullivan County.

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) named Tonya Hattaway the 2012 Dispatcher of the Year at a special award ceremony held Thursday evening in Murfreesboro.  Hattaway, who is assigned to the THP’s Cookeville District, earned the honor for an incident last February in which she helped find a woman who was thought to be harmful to herself and sent a trooper to the woman’s aide.
