Jobs4TN Online brings self-service functions to job seekers and employers

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Karla Davis today announced a new jobs database to help connect job seekers with Tennessee employers.

Jobs4TN Online is a virtual recruiter, automatically notifying job seekers when jobs they may qualify for are posted and notifying employers when candidates who fit their needs register.

NASHVILLE – Jobseekers in Nashville and Murfreesboro are invited to apply Monday, May 7, for jobs at Saks Fifth Avenue’s 564,000-square-foot distribution center.
 
Located in La Vergne, this distribution center will fill orders for saks.com customers around the globe. Saks Fifth Avenue has partnered exclusively with Tennessee Career Centers to conduct initial screenings and scheduling of interviews. The job fair begins a three-week hiring kickoff to fill 250 positions prior to the center’s startup in July.

– County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for March 2012, released today, show the rate decreased in 89 counties, increased in five counties, and remained the same in one county. March Unemployment Rate 7.9 Percent

State Unemployment Rate Drops for Eighth Consecutive Month
 
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee’s unemployment rate for March fell to 7.9 percent, down from the February revised rate of 8.0 percent. The national unemployment rate for March 2012 was 8.2 percent, 0.1% percentage point lower than the February rate.
