Tennessee State Parks System Named Best in the Country

Nashville, Tenn. – Governor Phil Bredesen and Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke announced today that the Tennessee State Parks System has been named the best state parks system in the country by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Park Association.

12 Tennessee Sites Added to the National Register of Historic Places

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Historical Commission has announced 12 Tennessee sites have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register of Historic Places is the nation’s official list of cultural resources worthy of preservation. It is part of a nationwide program that coordinates and supports efforts to identify, evaluate and protect historic resources. The Tennessee Historical Commission administers the program in Tennessee.

Environment and Conservation Sponsoring Pollution Prevention Workshop

Nashville, Tenn. – The Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Environmental Assistance will sponsor a pollution prevention workshop at Dell, Inc. in Nashville on October 17, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. The workshop is geared to help anyone from individuals to industry learn more about the Pollution Prevention Partnership (TP3) program for environmental protection.

Bredesen Announces Parks And Recreation Grants

Nashville, Tenn. – Governor Phil Bredesen and Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke have announced the recipients of two Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program grants.  The TRIP grant awards for the cities of Medina in Gibson County and South Pittsburg in Marion County will help each of those local communities establish parks and recreation departments and hire a professional parks and recreation director.
