Automotive Original Parts Manufacturer to Create 72 Jobs, Invest $31 Million in Lawrence County

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty joined with company officials today to announce TPR Federal-Mogul Tennessee, Inc. will locate a manufacturing plant in Lawrence County. The Lawrenceburg facility, located at 201 Helton Drive, will serve the North American automobile manufacturing industry and create 72 jobs.

New ABC Fall Show Begins Pre-Production, Projected to Hire More Than 350 Tennesseans

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD) announced today that it has approved a grant of up to $7.5 million for the “Nashville” television show that will film in Music City and premier on ABC this fall. The reimbursable grant will be based on the production’s actual qualified expenditures made in Tennessee. Qualified expenditures are those incurred in the state for goods or services purchased from a Tennessee vendor or paid to a Tennessee resident in connection with the production.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee has once again ranked among the best in economic development by Area Development magazine, a leading executive publication covering corporate site selection and facility planning. The Volunteer State, along with Texas, South Carolina and Utah, were named the winners of the magazine’s 2012 Gold Shovel Awards, presented annually to states that have achieved significant success in terms of job creation and economic impact. Tennessee received a Gold Shovel award in 2009 and Silver Shovel awards in 2006, 2010 and 2011.

"42" Begins Production in Chattanooga

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty visited the set of "42" in Chattanooga on Friday, May 25. The feature film is based on the story of baseball great Jackie Robinson and is written and directed by Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the color line in the big leagues and whose uniform number, "42," is the only one to be retired by Major League Baseball. Harrison Ford stars as Dodgers General Manager Branch Rickey, the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors in 1945 before bringing him up to the majors two years later.
