I-65 Reduced to One Lane in Giles County This Weekend for Bridge RepairFriday, June 08, 2012 | 10:24 am
- I-65 Northbound from mile marker 2.5 to mile marker 3.5 will be reduced to one lane beginning Friday, June 8, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. The lanes will reopen no later than Monday, June 11 at 6:00 a.m.
- From 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each day, there will also be alternating lane closures on I-65 North and South from the Alabama state line to mile marker 14 through Wednesday June 13th.
During this weekend’s lane closures on I-65 North, workers will be milling, paving and installing guardrail. The bridge repairs are being completed as part of an $8 million dollar interstate resurfacing project that stretches from the Alabama state line to U.S. 64. (SR 15) The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of August 2012.
TDOT will use portable message boards to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
