I am pleased to announce Diane Brightwell’s appointment to Chief Officer of Greene Valley Developmental Center (GVDC), effective August 29, 2011. In this role, Ms. Brightwell will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of GVDC and facilitating administration of all aspects of service delivery to maintain compliance with ICF/ID requirements.
Ms. Brightwell has over 31 years of experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field. Prior to her Central Office position, she served as Chief Officer of Clover Bottom Developmental Center. During her tenure, she was responsible for providing direct oversight to the Harold Jordan Center (HJC) and assisted in the preparation and partial release of HJC from the Settlement Agreement. In her current position, she has also worked closely with GVDC staff both on and off site regarding administrative issues, policy development, and implementation of Protection From Harm processes.
“I am very honored to be appointed to this position,” Brightwell said. “During my time spent at Greene Valley, I have found the staff to be extremely dedicated and passionate in providing the best care for those they serve. I look forward to becoming part of the team.”
East Regional Office Director John Craven stated, “Ms. Brightwell's diverse background provides a clear understanding of the steps necessary to build a continuum of supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her talent as a manager, plus the wealth of knowledge and experience in service provision, leaves me pleased to welcome her as Chief Officer.”
I am confident Ms. Brightwell’s skills will only enhance the quality of services provided to east Tennessee’s most vulnerable citizens. Her leadership abilities will continue to be vital in ensuring GVDC maintains its highest standards of professionalism and accreditation.
Ms. Brightwell holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Developmental Learning from the University of Alabama, Huntsville.
